Gentle Monster and Musinsa Stores in Seoul

Where the stand-alone stores are, when they open, which ones are listed for tax refunds, how Musinsa's foreign-shopper points work, and how to pay. Checked against the brands' store pages, VisitKorea and Visit Seoul.

Gentle Monster has four stand-alone stores in Seoul: HAUS NOWHERE SEOUL in Seongsu, HAUS NOWHERE DOSAN and the Sinsa store in Gangnam-gu, and the Hongdae store. Three open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Hongdae opens from noon to 10 p.m. Musinsa’s main Seoul stores open at 11 a.m. and close between 9 and 11 p.m. For a tax refund, Gentle Monster Hongdae is the only stand-alone store the Korea Tourism Organization lists, and Musinsa’s own pages list every Musinsa Standard branch in this guide. Gentle Monster’s site lists no foreign-visitor discount. Musinsa gives foreign shoppers points worth 20% of each in-store purchase, up to 10,000 points (about US$100), which can be spent only on its global online store, and it says its Megastore Seongsu gives passport holders an extra discount.

(Visit Seoul spells its street Dokmak-ro.)

Gentle Monster’s Korean store locator also lists shops inside department stores, malls and duty-free shops across Seoul. One of them, GENTLE MONSTER Seoul Lotte Tower on the 1st floor of the Lotte World Tower mall in Jamsil, offers the same fittings and repairs as the stand-alone stores, and the locator showed it open until 10 p.m. on the day we checked. For duty-free shopping, see how Seoul’s duty-free shops work.

Can you get a tax refund at Gentle Monster?

Yes, at Hongdae: the Korea Tourism Organization’s VisitKorea listing names GENTLE MONSTER Hongdae a Tax Refund Shop with “Immediate tax refund / Claim for refund,” and says cards are accepted. It is the only stand-alone Gentle Monster store with a KTO tax refund listing: we found none for Sinsa, HAUS NOWHERE DOSAN or HAUS NOWHERE SEOUL on October 13, 2026. Gentle Monster’s own store pages don’t mention tax refunds for any branch.

KTO does list several Gentle Monster department-store shops in Seoul as Tax Refund Shops, such as the one in Hyundai Department Store Apgujeong, which offers after-purchase refunds.

Whichever store you buy at, bring your passport. VisitKorea says refund shops display a “Tax Refund” sign, so look for it and show your passport before you pay. If the refund matters, buy at Hongdae.

What are the tax refund rules?

You qualify if you are a foreign national staying in Korea for less than six months. Purchases must be ₩15,000 or more per receipt, unused, and leave Korea within three months. For an immediate refund at the till, each payment must be under ₩1,000,000 and your immediate-refund total for the trip no more than ₩5,000,000. Present your passport when you pay. The full process, including the airport kiosks, is in our tax refund guide.

Do foreigners get a discount at Gentle Monster?

No. We found no discount or membership offer for foreign visitors on Gentle Monster’s official site; the only saving is the tax refund, which the Korea Tourism Organization lists at the Hongdae store.

What else is inside HAUS NOWHERE?

Both HAUS NOWHERE buildings also hold a Tamburins store and a Nudake shop, Gentle Monster’s sister brands. Tamburins lists a store on the 3rd floor of HAUS NOWHERE SEOUL, open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and one in HAUS NOWHERE DOSAN that closes at 9 p.m. Nudake Teahouse is on the 5th floor of HAUS NOWHERE SEOUL: gift shop 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., tea lounge noon to 9 p.m. Nudake Dosan is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Tamburins also has stand-alone stores at 44 Apgujeong-ro 10-gil in Sinsa, the same street as Gentle Monster Sinsa; 8 Yeonmujang 5-gil in Seongsu; 238 Itaewon-ro in Hannam; and 84 Yulgok-ro 3-gil in Samcheong-dong. Hannam opens 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tamburins’ page shows “11:00pm” as the opening time for Sinsa, Seongsu, Samcheong and Dosan, which looks like a misprint for 11 a.m.; it gives closing times of 9 p.m. for Sinsa, Seongsu and Dosan and 8 p.m. for Samcheong. VisitKorea lists Tamburins Sinsa as open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., closed over the Seollal and Chuseok holidays, with immediate and after-purchase tax refunds.

Where are the Musinsa stores in Seoul?

Musinsa runs two main kinds of shop in Seoul: Musinsa Standard, its own basics label, and Musinsa Store, a multi-brand shop selling many Korean labels. The main branches are in Seongsu, Hongdae, Myeongdong and Hannam, all open daily from 11 a.m. The largest is a third format, Musinsa Megastore Seongsu, opened in April 2026: about 1,000 brands on five floors (B1 to 4F), including Musinsa Beauty’s first store on the 2nd floor and a Musinsa Standard branch on the 3rd. It is 475 m from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station.

Musinsa calls its Seongsu multi-brand shop Musinsa Store Seongsu@Daelim Changgo. The full directory lists more than 90 shops, including department-store branches. Musinsa’s pages list no Seollal or Chuseok closures; they say only that weekend and public-holiday hours may run longer or shorter.

Which Musinsa stores give tax refunds?

Every Musinsa Standard branch in the table lists overseas tax refunds on its store page (“해외 Tax-refund 가능한 스토어”); the Musinsa Store and Megastore pages don’t mention them. The missing line doesn’t by itself mean no refund: Musinsa’s site leaves it off the page of every multi-brand store in this guide, and Musinsa’s February 2025 newsroom release counted tax-free sales to foreign customers at its multi-brand stores in Hongdae and Seongsu@Daelim Warehouse, and said it planned more tax refund kiosks.

The store pages also don’t say whether the Standard refund is immediate. KTO described Musinsa Standard’s service as an immediate tax refund in 2024; the 10% discount that page advertised ended on December 31, 2024. At any Musinsa shop, show your passport and ask at the till before you pay.

Do foreigners get a discount at Musinsa?

Sometimes, and it varies by store. Musinsa said in a June 2026 press release that Megastore Seongsu gives a welcome gift to shoppers who sign up for MUSINSA GLOBAL and an extra discount to customers who verify with a passport. It didn’t give the amount, and such offers change, so ask at the till or check the MUSINSA GLOBAL app.

The standing perk is points. MUSINSA GLOBAL gives foreign shoppers 20% of the purchase back as points at Musinsa Store and Musinsa Standard shops. Download the MUSINSA GLOBAL app, sign up, and show the barcode in My Account to staff at checkout. Its help page sets the limits:

  • Each purchase earns 20% back, up to 10,000 points.
  • They expire after three months.
  • They can be spent only on online orders through MUSINSA GLOBAL.
  • The barcode must be shown at checkout; points can’t be added afterwards.
  • Returning an item cancels its points.

Under MUSINSA GLOBAL’s point rules, 100 points are worth US$1, so the 10,000-point cap is worth about US$100. Since July 11, 2025, points can pay for at most 7% of each online order (15% on Members’ Day, the 1st to 3rd of each month). Using a full 10,000 points at 7% would take roughly US$1,430 of orders within the three months. So the “20% back” pays off only if you already plan to order a lot from MUSINSA GLOBAL after you get home.

How do you pay at Musinsa?

Every Musinsa store in this guide takes Visa, Mastercard, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, KakaoPay and Alipay. The store pages name no other card networks, so bring a Visa or Mastercard. Musinsa Standard branches also take Toss Pay, Payco, Zero Pay, WeChat Pay and cash, except Seongsu-iro, which takes no cash. Musinsa Megastore Seongsu also takes Toss Pay, Payco, WeChat Pay and cash. The Musinsa Store branches in Hongdae, Myeongdong and Seongsu add only cash, with no WeChat Pay.

Keep your receipt. Musinsa’s pages say items bought in a store can only be exchanged or refunded at that same store, not online.

Which area covers both brands in half a day?

Seongsu. HAUS NOWHERE SEOUL, the Musinsa Megastore, two Musinsa Standard branches, Musinsa Store Seongsu and Tamburins Seongsu all have Seongsu addresses; Musinsa Store Seongsu is 150 m from the Megastore. Everything opens at 11 a.m. HAUS NOWHERE closes first, at 9 p.m., and the Musinsa stores close at 10 p.m., so if you arrive late in the day, go to HAUS NOWHERE first. To walk or take a taxi between them, see Naver Map and Kakao T.

Pick Hongdae instead for an evening: Gentle Monster Hongdae is open until 10 p.m., and both Musinsa Hongdae stores until 11 p.m. It is also the only stand-alone Gentle Monster store with a KTO tax refund listing. Choose Sinsa and Dosan if you’re already in Gangnam-gu and want Gentle Monster and Tamburins without Musinsa.
